Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeastern New Mexico has been serving the youth and volunteers in Chaves County since September 2001. Roswell is home to our Corporate Office, located at 1717 W Second St., Ste. 200.

BBBS SENM has partnered with Family Resource and Referral to create an opportunity for children participating in the after-school program at Military Heights. New Mexico Military Institute high school and junior college cadets, age 16 and older, are paired with elementary students from Military Heights Elementary School. The mentors meet with their Littles after school, and work to help them better their social skills, and improve in academics.

With support from the Dexter School District, BBBS SENM has a mentoring program in Dexter schools. Dexter High School students can sign up to be mentors. They are matched with students from Dexter Elementary, and receive elective high school credit for the class. The matches meet for one class period each day. High School Bigs are trained to use positive reinforcement and role modeling to help their Littles overcome challenges they may face during school hours.

Volunteers age 18 and older are matched with youth ages 5-17. These matches meet a minimum of 4 hours each month. This program is highly flexible and allows for endless possibilities for Bigs to connect with their Littles. Matches get to know each other by having fun doing activities out in the community. Some matches meet on the weekends, while others get together on weekday afternoons or evenings. Each match is unique and develops a schedule that works for them.
