Please note that this information is kept confidential (and secure).

  1. We're glad you've come to our website to learn about how you can be a Big Brother or Big Sister.
  2. Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is a lot of fun for both the child and also for you. In fact, our volunteers tell us they get as much out of it as the kids!
  3. Here's a little about our different programs so you can find one that fits what you are looking for:
    • In our community program, you get to share activities with a child that you both enjoy! That might include fishing, playing board games, baking cookies, or going to ball games. You get to enjoy these fun times two or three times a month with your Little Brother or Little Sister, on your own schedule.
    • We also have a school mentoring program. Here, you get to go back to elementary school and experience the hot lunches and little desks all over again! You visit your Little Brother or Little Sister each week at their school. And remember, it's a chance for you can go to recess and act like a third grader again.
  4. We'd like to get you started ... and we can start the process right now. Just click on Continue where we ask you to provide some basic contact and other data about yourself. Just follow the instructions and we'll call you within one working day to schedule you for an appointment.

It's easy to become a volunteer. Follow these simple steps and you're on your way to Little Moments and Big Magic.
  1. Complete the online application. Once the application is received, BBBS will contact you to confirm receipt of application and coordinate notarization of Release of Information forms.
  2. You will need three (3) references: one from work or school, the rest friends who have known you for a year or more. No relatives, please.
  3. You will need to notarize the Release of Information forms. Usually your bank will notarize them for free or, you can bring them to the BBBS office and our Office Manager will notarize them for free also. These will allow us to conduct the background checks.
  4. A photocopy of your driver's license and car insurance will be necessary.
  5. A Case Manager will then contact you to schedule your confidential interview either in your home or at the BBBS office.
  6. After your references have been completed, background and driving record information received and your interview completed, your application will be reviewed and pending acceptance, you will be matched with a Little.
  7. A Case Manager will then contact you to schedule a match introduction with your Little.
