Lea County opened its doors in June of 2007. We have 24 active matches, and our volunteers range from young adults to senior citizens, students to professionals. We have 12 boys and girls on our waiting list, and ten more that have been referred to our program. Presently we provide services through our Community-Based program and hope to begin our School-Based program by the next school year.
67% come from one-parent families 36% have a parent that is incarcerated 27% are being raised by grandparents The events we've held for our matches include participating in the Christmas parade, having group picnics, and our latest- a spring skating event. We plan on hosting a summer swimming party, and participating in the Lea County Fair. We continue to receive a lot of support from community leaders and many community entities, but we are always on the look out for Big Brothers and Big Sisters to build friendships with our waiting Littles.
